Furlough scheme extended until March 2021

It has been confirmed that the furlough scheme will be extended until the end of March. It will cover up to 80% of an employee's wage (up to £2,500 a month). 

Below you can find contributions under different support schemes.

Original Furlough Scheme until November

  • The employer pays 20%
  • The Government pays 60%
  • An employee's pay is cut by 20%

Extended Scheme (November - March)

  • The Government pays 80%
  • Employee's pay is cut by 20%

Job Support Scheme for businesses that are forced to close 

  • The Government pays 67%
  • Employee's pay is cut by 33%

Part-time Job Support Scheme (for businesses affected by restrictions)

  • An employee works 20% of the time
  • The employer pays 4%
  • The Government pays 49%
  • Employee's pay is cut by 27%

In all cases, employers have to pay NI and minimum pension contributions. 

Workers made redundant after 23 September can be rehired and put on furlough.

Support to self-employed 

Self-employed will be able to claim support through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS), which will be in place from November to January. It will cover 80% of average trading profits, up to a maximum of £7,500.
